In "Wegmans Is Scanning Your Face at Some Stores. It’s Not the Only Company" (CNN, January 12, 2026), CNN reports on the use of facial recognition technology by supermarket chain Wegmans in their New York City stores. 

Pollock Cohen managing partner Adam Pollock, who is representing the lead plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against the New York Mets over biometric data collection at Citi Field, noted, "Probably virtually every large and medium-sized retailer is using biometrics ... The companies themselves don’t like to talk about it, because Americans are pretty universally squeamish about facial (and) biometric recognition."
