In “Anthem Hit With Third Class Action on Alleged ‘Ghost Networks’” (Bloomberg Law, July 15, 2025), Bloomberg Law discusses Mazzola v. Anthem Health Plans, Inc., a class action lawsuit filed in Connecticut state court. The lawsuit targets Anthem Health Plans, Carelon, and their parent company, Elevance, alleging fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation for failing to maintain an accurate provider directory, which has resulted in what are known as “ghost networks.”
The plaintiffs, Michelle and Guy Mazzola, represented by Pollock Cohen LLP partner Steve Cohen, seek restitution after the couple was unable to find local in-network therapy for their son. This is a violation of both the federal and Connecticut versions of the No Surprises Act, which mandates insurers to update their provider directories regularly.
The plaintiffs are represented in this matter by Pollock Cohen LLP, along with co-counsel Walden Macht Haran & Williams LLP and Izard, Kindall & Raabe LLP.
